March 21, 2004
Attendees: Ricky Ake, Jim Bailey, Brian Ross, Carin Sanford, Desiree Slaughter, Troy Sloan, Sonya Smith, Dennis Stewart

The meeting began at 2:00pm.
OPENING REMARKS / GENERAL DISCUSSION
- Discussed community meeting and election overview with board appointments.
- Finances overview.
- 130 kids signed up this season
- Supplies bought from www.leaguedirect.com, League Direct online.
- Meet once a month during the season.
- Next meeting will be 4/7/04 at 7:45pm.
- Board meetings open to parents. To be on the agenda, need 72 hour notice.
- Howe Youth Baseball Board By-Laws reviewed, edited, and to be reviewed again at next meeting.
- Terms of office for all 9 officials on the Board is 2 year term. Community election in October 2005 for next term.
- Background checks – criminal – Sonya Smith to check into this.
- Schedule not done yet, will get around 1st of April.
- How to pick All-star coaches this season? Years past, it has been team with best
record’s head coach coached the All-star team. Other 2 or 3 coaches were from
other teams. Tabled until next Board meeting.

- No public person / parent on the agenda for this meeting.
TREASURERS REPORT – Sonya Smith
- Expenses report.
- Who is on checking will okay purchases. Two signatures required.
- Sam’s Club card: Ricky Ake currently, need to add Desiree Slaughter.
- Howe Youth Baseball bank account has Ricky Ake and Troy Sloan already on the account, just need to remove Jennie Bullard and add Sonya Smith and Scottie Harris. Credit card to be checked into by Desiree.
- Acct. referring to is account number 122386
- Minutes need to be signed by the Secretary.
- Need another signature to change names on checking account.
- 2 signatures required (Sonya Smith will verify)
- Bank charges $25 to check a month.
- Sonya Smith will present the ledger at each meeting.
SECRETARY – Carin Sanford
- Received each board member’s name, phone, cell, and email address.
- Call or email to remind everyone of the next meeting.
EQUIPMENT – Jim Bailey
- Practice baseballs may be bought at Academy for $7.99 per dozen. Jim Bailey to check on.
- Need a list of who has what equipment.
- Ricky Ake will get Jim Bailey a list of equipment that has been handed out.
- Game balls (Dixie Youth League approved) are in the concession stand.
- Get 4 to 6 dozen more now.
- Chin straps now.
SPONSORSHIP/FUNDRAISING – Dennis Stewart
- $775 so far for trophies.
- Need sponsor’s name on trophies.
- Discussed trophies with Board members and sponsorship.
- Founders Day, May 1st. Parade (teams in parade). 10am-4pm. Free booth (3 spaces set aside). Booth 8am, 12x12, lineup at 9:30am at the football field, get flatbed from Brice Harvey (Scott Slaughter will do).
- Dunking booth? Desiree will call.
- Dr. Pepper or Pepsi may supply a trailer.
- Bulldog stickers for fund raising? $6 or $7.
- Radar gun – Jeff Stanley
- Roping – Gina Jones
- Call Wayne Shankford to organize.
- Pitch Hit & Run (texomaland.com). Old Settlers park, free, prizes, Pepsi sponsor, let coaches know about (give flyer to Ricky Ake to give to coaches). 892-7344 – Theresa Hutchinson.
- Call Dennis about more sponsors. Need to happen this year.
- Sponsors to get a plaque with team picture. Kandy Harris will provide extra team picture for this.
- Pictures will be done at the activity center, and not on Founders day.
- Ricky Ake needs the sponsor names from Dennis Stewart.
- Sonya Smith needs sponsors names, addresses, and phone numbers.
- Hand trophies out to kids at their last game.
UNIFORMS – Brian Ross
- Shirts and caps are all ready on order for this season.
- All-star shirts will need more sponsors.
CONCESSIONS – Desiree Slaughter
- Keys obtained by Desiree Slaughter.
- Need to request city to spray for bees at North field (Ricky will do).
- Need to decide on putting together a committee.
- Food handler license – Desiree Slaughter to call on.
- Past person worked – Hillary Nixon - $10 per game.
- Desiree Slaughter to call Health Department.
- Storage: Ferguson field refrigerator (holds 8 cases)
- Dr. Pepper $13.75 per case bottles.
- Tommy Wilks works for Pepsi, ask him to see if it is cheaper than Dr. Pepper.
- Coca-cola too high?
- Snow cone machine, Ricky gets syrup from Denison lady, ice from Jimmy Dawn in exchange for Ferguson storage. Desiree to check with Jimmy Dawn on his prices.
- Money $65 from bank in till or $70.
- North field concession stand may be run by softball this season. Check with Steve Courtney, softball commissioner.
- Ricky Ake will get a list of names to Desiree Slaughter.
